What if one day you could become anonymous, free of obligations, free to do what you have always wanted to do? That's exactly what Jerry Shaw pulls off after faking his death to collect on a $4 million life insurance policy. But just when Jerry thinks he has escaped his former life, he is betrayed by his co-conspirators, his wife and best friend, and learns that a tenacious insurance company investigator is hot on his heels. You won't be able to put down this twisting and suspenseful novel, wondering if Jerry will ultimately get to do what he has always wanted, to become anonymous, just like the hero of his comic book creation, The Anonymous Man, and then not only draw his further adventures, but live them.

Whenever I read a story I want to have at least one character that I like or respect. After three chapters, I had not been introduced to one person about whom I wanted to know more. I almost stopped reading at that point but then became intrigued with wondering about a story where no one is likable. The author managed to hold my interest and I finally developed a modicum of respect for a hooker in the story. But the reality is that the characters in this book are flawed way beyond the norm to which many people fall.
I was hooked to find out how the story resolved but I can't say that I liked it. Just on that basis alone, I recommend it as long as you're not looking for characters of substance. It is an easy read.

The Anonymous Man Vincent L Scarsella 9781927598290 Books Reviews
What a tangled web of lies, murder, blackmail, and deciept. Holly Gerry and Jeff plan a life of luxury and, free to do whatever they so choose, however even the best laid plans can go wildly astray. The plot is original in the style of this book. Very entertaining read! Would definately recommend this author.
Good read, plausible story line. Further proof that insurance companies don't just give money away.
Would have liked more violent revenge but good finish. Just my opinion, everybody has one and most stink.
I like this author' understanding of human nature. The story revolves around a guy (not the brightest) who plots with his wife and a lawyer friend to plan his demise so as to collect 4 million in insurance monies. The plan goes terribly wrong when his cohorts decide he really is in the way. Good summer read....
I really enjoyed this. Characters were really well-developed and the plot was straightforward without being predictable. There were a lot of interesting twists and things I didn't see coming as well as some just genuinely enjoyable exchanges between characters. Would definitely recommend for anyone that likes a good crime or revenge story.
I would give Vincent a five-star on this one. It is one thrilling ride. His premise is interesting from the beginning, with enough stumps and twists to keep you turning the pages till the end. Nobody....nobody...in the cast of characters is entirely predictable, although one of them....won't tell you who.....is almost typecast. Dialogue is entirely believable and easy to follow. Plot development is superb and surprising. The end is satisfying, but leaves you knowing there's just GOTTA be a sequel. And, there is...but get this one first! I rarely read fiction, but this was worth the time.
What if you could do it? Would you? It is an intriguing idea. One man decides to do just that with the help of his wife, new best friend and a four million dollar life insurance policy. It seems easy enough. The plan seems sound. All the pieces are in place. It will all work out fine, won't it?
While there are predictable moments, there are more than enough twists and turns to make up for that. You really do find yourself rooting for Jerry, and wanting to scream at him when he does things that might lead to him being found out. I really recommend this to anyone who loves a good thriller.
The copy I have is a first edition, so there are a few editing issues that have been solved since then. If you read an earlier version, however, there's some confusion about Holly. Holly is married to Jerry. Jeff is their friend.
I'm not normally a fan of legal thrillers, but I really had a blast with this one! The characters are interesting and mostly dislikable and there are plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you off kilter. The court scenes are run sort of like Matlock episodes. There's plenty of action without too much legal jargon to weigh it down.
Over all, this is one of the few legal thrillers I've enjoyed. It's opened the floodgates so that I'll be picking up Scarsella's other adult books.
