I enjoyed the characters and watching them during their journey. There were several small errors that could have been easily corrected with a final edit. I usually expect a couple of typos, but the mistakes became distracting. Still, I wanted to see how the story resolved, so I finished the story and am glad I did.
Wow ,enjoyed this story greatly .Cant wait for the next story. As I said on the first book, I am here outside of Portland today and enjoying my family in Maine.Love this town, in the spring time.
Not as good as the first. Everything felt rushed and predictable. More like a B movie plot. I paid for this one and I'm sorry I did.
This was a sweet story, with a happy almost predictable ending...and that is a good thing! When you open a book like this, that is what you are looking for right? If it didn't make you cry just a bit and get just a bit fired up, then the author didn't make you care about the characters. I hope you enjoyed these guys as much as I did! Also it was a quick read, and with busy lives, that is also a good thing! Thank you Merry Farmer, good work!
One Night With a Star is book two in the Second Chances series by Merry Farmer. The book takes place in Maine. The characters are wonderful and the plot is simple but with twists. This story is about being given a second chance and taking it.
Life has changed drastically for Jenny Young since her one night with actor Simon Mercer. It seems that night left her with a little present- Daniel. She has gone through her pregnancy with only her family and through birth. However hard things have been, she never once regretted getting her true love out of it- her son Daniel. Now, her best friend Tasha Pike was marrying Spencer Ellis and Simon should be making his appearance as best man at any minute. How is she going to tell him about Daniel? Will it make a difference?
This was the second in the "Second Chances" series that I read and I liked it even better than the first. You could read it as a standalone book but I don't recommend it. I think you would get about 10 minutes into it and want to go back and read the first one to get context for the story. There are a few other characters from Book 1 that reappear as well.
Jenny was an overachieving real estate agent when she met Simon, the dashing British movie star. Just as fast as she fell for him, and he for her, he was gone. But not before leaving something behind, something very big...and he doesn't know that until he shows up for the wedding of their best friends (Spencer and Tasha from Book 1).
Simon left Jenny for all the right reasons but in all the wrong ways. She was THAT GIRL...the one girl who he wanted to change for. He was just too much of a coward to tell her before he left. But now he's back and he has to prove to her that he's back to stay.
One Night with a Star had characters you wanted to be invested in for the right reasons. Jenny was trying so hard to find herself again and Simon, he wanted to prove himself. He knew Jenny wouldn't listen to words...it had to be actions.
This is a quick read, great for the beach or vacation. Buy the set and you should have a nice escape to Maine and the other side of movie stars while you are there!
I really liked that Jenny was a strong woman last summer n ends the story even stronger. I even like when they show her human n vulnerable and stools to date the puke Neil. I mean really who doesn't love a cute baby? I think it would be best to read this in order to get the emotionally pull more intense. The words Simon explains to Spencer why he is leaving his house because Jen isn't a one night stand she is a life changing woman. In saying that Simon did exactly that changed his life from celebrity playbook to the real down home gentleman he is and that really is the shinning star Jen was drawn to n wanted to share her life with. Reminder life I s blessed in the little things that t ouch n make us all truly happy. I walked away with now that story was good! A recommend this to anyone that may have stumbled or thought what am I doing with my life to see every step forward is a gift to treasure....enjoy n share.
